Scottish Marketing Communications Action Group

The Scottish Marketing Communications Action Group (smcaction) is a new industry-wide action group formed as a direct outcome of a cross-industry study into perceptions of the industry and its economic potential.

Its vision is:

To position Scotland as a world class centre of marketing communications excellence that contributes to a truly smart successful Scotland.

An Advance Party was set up in March this year to establish whether there was a collective will to form a body to act on behalf of the industry as a whole.

Following a meeting in Edinburgh on 26th September this mandate was unanimously accorded from the 50 or so attendees, who it was generally acknowledged, were indeed a representative cross section of the industry.

At the meeting around 20 volunteers agreed to meet on 24th October to take the initiative to the next step and agree what actions are necessary to bring the vision to life.
